Food Service Delivery Driver

This position is part time working approximately 6 hours per day when school is in session. Hourly Rate: $18.25-18.80 (Benefits information attached)

Qualifications:

• Food Handling Certificate or ability to obtain one
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Current Illinois Driver's License
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull food items, carts, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment physical, fingerprint-based background check, and Employment History Review.

Reports To: Director of Food Service & Assistant Food Service Director

Job Goal:

Ensure the seamless operation of the district's food program by overseeing the secure transport, organized storage, and punctual delivery of food and equipment to all school sites.

Job Responsibilities:

• Safely operates a district vehicle with a lift gate to transport food, supplies, and equipment to school sites according to set schedules.
• Manages the stable loading and unloading of goods to prevent damage.
• Inspects vendor deliveries for accuracy and quality; reports discrepancies.
• Pulls, labels, and prepares daily orders for distribution.
• Adheres to HACCP guidelines, food safety standards, and School Nutrition Program requirements.
• Maintains proper food storage temperatures and FIFO rotation.
• Performs routine inspections, fueling, and cleaning of district vehicle.
• Maintains organized and sanitary dry storage, coolers, and freezers.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
• Works independently to manage time and communicates delivery issues professionally.
• Assists in school kitchens during staffing shortages or emergencies as needed.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or district office administrators.

Terms Of Employment: Part-time, up to 30 hours per week on school days when children are in attendance. Institute days as requested by the administration.

Evaluation: One written evaluation per year and every other year after three consecutive years of employment. Evaluations completed by the Director & Assistant Director of Food Service.
