JOB SUMMARY
Provides medical documentation for physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accurately and thoroughly completes documentation of medical visits and procedures performed by physicians and APPs as they are being performed
- Completes dictation/faxing/phone calls and clerical tasks as directed by the medical provider.
- Reviews notes for mistakes and inconsistencies in medical documentation to avoid errors.
- Oversees appointment bookings and schedules appointments when needed. Maintains timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients. Screens patients for appropriate information.
- Assists medical assistant, LPN, or RN in preparation of exam rooms including re-stocking and cleaning of treatment areas.
- Arranges for patient testing and admissions.
- Provides information to patients and families regarding health prevention and promotion as directed by medical provider.
- Schedules appointments for patients.
- Completes documentation for schools or other entities as needed
- Completes letters and forms as needed or requested.
- Attends meetings as required.

Qualifications and education requirements
- Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to input patient information.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work efficiently with physicians, staff, patients, and families
- Strong computer skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to be a team player
- Working knowledge of computerized scheduling systems and general scheduling principles within a primary care clinic setting.
- Strong organizational and demonstrates the ability to maintain accurate notes and records.
- Ability to communicate proficiently through technology (email, cell phone, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
- Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner

- Knowledge of community health services

Physical and Environmental Conditions
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will have a combination of standing, sitting, bending and reaching. May work at a computer monitor for prolonged periods.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions are possible
- Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
