Pay Schedule III, Grade 18N, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week. Job Purpose Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and provides professional public health nursing services to individuals, families, and groups in the home, community, and health centers. Essential Job Duties Provides nursing care, health assessments, health guidance, health education, and referral services to individuals, families, groups, and institutions. Administers emergency care to patients. Assists in the provision of patient case monitoring. Assesses and monitors patients' physical and mental states of health. Monitors the progress of the patient care plan. Oversees and evaluates home‑based services. Ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations. Assists physicians and others in health clinics. Conducts home visits. Performs various health screenings. Provides health screening education and counseling in the areas of disease prevention, health maintenance, and mental health. Participates in instruction, orientation, and oversight of new public health nurses. Prepares and maintains nursing records and reports. Examples of Other Duties Performs other related duties as required. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing, or graduation from an accredited diploma school of nursing plus at least one year of professional nursing experience, or graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree in nursing plus at least two years of professional nursing experience. Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment. A valid driver's license equivalent to a non‑commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is also required at the time of appointment. Physical and Environmental Conditions The work may include walking, standing, lifting, operating medical equipment and instruments, and traveling throughout the County. Duties may expose incumbents to various biomedical hazards.
