Job Description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at a boarding school in Watertown, CT.

Boarding school opportunities may include room and board as well.

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach several sections of Spanish courses ranging from Beginner to Advanced.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to student needs and follows departmental objectives.
  • Organizing events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
  • Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
  • Lead or assist co-curriculars which may include coaching, community engagement, outdoor education or arts assignments.
  • Participate in residential life duties as needed by the school.

Spanish Teacher Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
  • Proficiency with education technology tools such as Canvas and Veracross.
  • 2-3 years of previous teaching experience.
  • No teaching license or credential is required.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
  • Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

  • Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
  • Ability to coach Squash, Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Crew, or Lacrosse.
