"The International School of Western Australia heralds new and exciting opportunities for prospective students and their families. While new, the operation is led by a team of vastly experienced educators that brought IIHS to the forefront of higher education in Sri Lanka, largely through longstanding connections with Australian and global curriculum. For the past 20 years IIHS has pioneered a suite of pathways that have sent our highly skilled, job ready graduates into international employment, research and further education opportunities. IIHS, and by extension ISWA, has recognised pathways into the world’s leading institutions in Australia. Colombo’s own ISWA offers students a unique global-oriented culture and learning practice with the opportunity to connect to a world-standard education pathway. Our academic program continues to evolve to accommodate the needs of every learner and challenges all students to think differently. With our thought provoking co-curricular opportunities including; an extensive music program, multiple sports offerings, innovation, and community engagement programs, our students continue to grow and flourish. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to The International School of Western Australia."

The International School of Western Australia,
is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

We’re part of the ground-breaking International Institute of Health Sciences, one of South Asia’s pioneering breed of educators. The School holds exclusive licence from the Government of Western Australia to deliver the Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE) in Sri Lanka. WACE is a world-standard highly flexible program recognised throughout the world, having proven a valuable pathway for students in Australia, China, Malaysia and many other for many decades.

We strive for excellence in all learning areas, providing students with clear expectations and skilled instruction while inspiring their curiosity, motivation and self-confidence. At the International School of Western Australia, our learning is inquiry-driven, with a commitment to an enduring set of values and a progressive education ethos. Our educators, drawn from Sri Lanka and around the globe, observe, listen and research alongside children, encouraging them to wonder and pose questions with many opportunities for critical, analytical, creative and reflective thinking.
Our diverse curriculum includes English, Mathematics, Wellbeing, Information Communication and Learning Technologies, Music, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Physical Education and Sport, Languages (Chinese, Japanese and French), Literature and Research Skills, and Outdoor Education. In addition, we offer a range of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) programs in Foundation and Years 11 and 12. Our curriculum and culture draws on the very best high school learning traditions from Australia and the world, adapted to the needs of our predominantly Sri Lankan student base.

Tailor Made Programs

Our academic program continues to
evolve to accommodate the needs of
every learner and challenges all students to think differently.

Multiple Co-Curricular Options

With our thought provoking co-curricular opportunities including; an extensive music program, multiple sports offerings, renowned art, innovation & technology programs, our students continue to grow and flourish.

Our vision is that we are a Positive and Creative Learning Community that embraces its history and prepares students for life. Our values are: Respect, Effort, Service, Positivity, Excellence, Creativity and Teamwork.

Respectful Relationship

The Respectful Relationships program supports schools and early childhood settings to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence. The Respectful Relationships whole-school approach recognises that schools are a workplace, a community hub and a place of learning. Everyone involved in our school community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally. We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, behaviours and equality are lived across the school community, and when classroom learning is reinforced by what is modelled in our school community. The Respectful Relationships program links well with our positive Education initiative

Democratic Principles

At the International School of Western Australia, our curriculum programs and teaching are designed to prepare students for life and is delivered in a manner that supports and promotes the principles and practice of democracy, including a commitment to elected government; the rule of law; equal rights for all before the law; freedom of religion; freedom of speech and association, and the values of openness and tolerance.

Positive Education

At the International School of Western Australia, we take pride in our safe, calm and orderly environment which is a pre-condition for focused learning. A rubric of our school is our Positive Education initiative. Positive Education istaught explicitly at all year levels and seeks to build on each individual’s character strengths and to promote a growth mindset particularly in relation to learning. Recognizing that mental health is a significant issue amongst our young people, Positive Education provides tools and skills for all students to manage challenging situations in their lives and set them up to flourish. Having a positive (growth) mindset is a skill that can be learned and therefore, taught. We work hard to create a culture where students are reflective. We strongly believe that the key to a happy and successful education is the quality of the relationships that are formed between all members of the school community. We see learning as a shared and collaborative process with parents, teachers and the broader community working together with students to achieve desired outcomes.

Community Engagement

Linked to our Positive Education Program is our Community Engagement program which has the aim of every student participating in a community service project annually. Programs are linked to existing IIHS community development programs with a focus on community health & wellbeing, and students will be awarded for their participation at our annual awards evening.
